Warzone Collective & Sledgehammer live

OK - so here's some really old video from the late 80's.  I found this on an old VHS tape I had from back in the day.

The footage was aired on a youth affairs type TV show - on BBC Northern Ireland or UTV?  It features a number of interview with people who were/are involved with the Warzone Collective in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  It shows footage of one of the bands who were on the go at the time - "Sledgehammer". It also has shots of the Vegetarian Restaurant which the group were involved in running and a samll piece on squatting in Belfast.  Warzone Collective website

RESIDENCE - "Our Demise" demo, IRELAND

Another Irish band.  This time a bunch of lads from the Dublin / Wicklow scene of the late 1990s.  RESIDENCE were a 4 piece Hardcore unit who played USHC influence music. They gigged a lot and were a breath of fresh air in the scene at the time..  This is their 4 track demo, which rules !!  Enjoy.

Tracklist:

1. Our Demise.
2. Cartoon Rebel.
3. Lost.
4. Change Your Ways.

BREAKFALL - "Words So Softly Spoken" MCD

OK, here's a rare item indeed - a CD by an Irish Straight Edge band! Well actually as far as I recall half the band were from Northern Ireland and the other 2 members were from Scotland.  I don't know much about these guys other than the fact that John (the drummer) went on to play in another SxE band called "Circle Again".  It's a really good MCD with some excellent tunes and lyrics.  A pity they didn't release anything else.

This MCD was self released on "Strength In An Age of Weakness" Records in 1998.  Shortly after th release John went to the US to play drums for New Jersey Hardcore band "ENSIGN". (He was their drummer from 1999 to 2001, and again for a few dates in 2004)

Tracklist:

1. Fall from grace.
2. Bloodlust.
3. Words so softly spoken.
4. The deepest cut.

STALAG 17 - "Erection 87" demo

Here's a 5 track demo from one of the most important bands of the 1980's Belfast punk scene.  Stalag 17, who along with fellow band "Toxic Waste" formed the nucleus of the hugely important "Warzone Collective" in Belfast.  This demo was released to coincide with the 1987 General Election in the UK, so I suppose this is a fairly apt time to up this little treasure!

Tracklist:

1. Party Talk.
2. Society.
3. No more 84.
4. Law and Order.
5. And The Birdie Said.
